Cumberland County College welcomes the Class of 2020

Tuesday, August 7, 2018

There has been a lot of talk about our county college and its future. We would like to take this opportunity to share important information that is known at this time.

First, Cumberland County College is alive and well!

Many people have speculated about the future of our college. Cumberland County College is a valued treasure nestled in the dynamic square mile we share with the Cumberland County Technical Education Center, Inspira Medical Center and Cumberland County Center for Workforce & Economic Development.

The first question on everyone’s mind is whether Cumberland County College will merge with Rowan College at Gloucester County.

We intend to be transparent as we look into whether a merger is appropriate for us at this time. We are in the process of gathering information and have formed an ad hoc committee which represents the college and the community. Information will be shared with all stakeholders as it becomes available.

In the meantime, we need to boast about these achievements during the 2017-2018 academic year:

•           Dukes men’s Basketball enjoyed a historic season by reaching the Region XIX Final Four for the first time in the college’s history.

•           The Shirlee & Bernard Brown University Center celebrated its 10th Anniversary.

•           The Theatre Department received nine 2018 Perry Award nominations.

•           With 710 graduates, the Class of 2018 was the third largest in the college’s history.

We look forward to the upcoming programs and initiatives as we continue to advance this year:

•           Child Advocacy

•           Beverage Tourism

•           Cybersecurity

•           Insurance Claims & Risk Management

•           Expanded Engineering Technology program and Rowan College of Engineering transfer agreement

•           Health Science/Allied Health pathways that align with degree programs

•           Early College High School in 10 distinct areas of study

We are pleased to be able to offer our students so many opportunities. Welcome to the Class of 2020. We look forward to seeing you on campus!
