Members of Cumberland County College’s Engineering Club have combined their skills to create a fun event in hopes of challenging fellow students and those in the community.

Over the past several months the students have volunteered their time outside of classes to design, construct, wire, and implement an Escape Room game on campus. Students say the project provides them with a worthwhile opportunity to collaborate with their peers. This is the second year for the college’s Escape Room, which proved very popular in 2017.

An escape room is a unique, interactive adventure game in which teams of players use clues, solve puzzles and/or complete missions within a 60-minute time limit that enable them to escape the locked room. Escape rooms are a worldwide phenomenon that have gained popularity in the United States.

Engineering Club members hope to attract participants who consider themselves “overly clever.” If successful, the supreme puzzle-solvers will gain the ultimate bragging rights.

The Escape Room will be operational March 12-23. Hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday; 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday (closed Sunday). Entry tickets are $5 for students with a valid student ID; $8 without student ID or for the general public.
