Proposal Planning Process

The Grants Development Office uses a step-by-step planning process to obtain external funding to advance the College’s strategic goals, establish new programs, and realize a significant return on investment.

The Grant Development Office maintains a Grants Agenda that lists deadlines for continuing projects, new institutional grant priorities, and new divisional and department priorities. Information from the agenda is used to create the Grants Office work plan.

  • Grant opportunities that materialize during the year are assessed using this Decision Matrix tool, allowing the College to make the critical go/no-go decision through an informed process rather than, “Hey this feels right, let’s do it!” If a “go” decision results, the project is placed on the Grants Agenda.
  • As approved projects develop and more details become known, the information on this Preliminary Proposal Form is brought to the Grants Concept Review Team, which includes the Project Director, the Grants Manager, and the Director of Financial Services. This group makes needed adjustments based on its review.
  • The Process Flow Chart demonstrates the planning process steps through to proposal submission.
  • Prior to submission of all proposals, the Transmittal Form is used to transmit this form with the proposal narrative and final budget for approval by the Grants Accountant, the Director of Finance, and the Vice President of Academic Affairs and Student Services. The President is the final signatory.
  • The New Venture Business Plan Template guides the Project Director through a standardized concept and proposal process to determine both the educational and financial benefit of the proposed initiative.
