Two appointed to Cumberland County College Board of Trustees

Vineland residents Nicholas Asselta and William M. Gruccio are the newest members of Cumberland County College’s Board of Trustees, after being sworn in during the board’s November 16 reorganization meeting.

“We are delighted to welcome two community members who care deeply about Cumberland and about our College,” said Cumberland County College President Dr. Yves Salomon-Fernandez. “Their breadth of professional experiences, expertise and insights will serve us well.”

Both Asselta and Gruccio were appointed to Cumberland County College’s Board of Trustees by Governor Chris Christie. 

Serving as a New Jersey State Senator from 2004 until 2008, Asselta represented the 1st Legislative District. He was a member of the Senate’s Budget and Appropriations Committee, the Community and Urban Affairs Committee, the Health, Human Services and Senior Citizens Committee, and the State Government Committee.

asseltaPrior to entering the Senate, Asselta served in the lower house of the New Jersey General Assembly, from 1995 to 2003.

Asselta implemented legislation that broadened the eligibility for Urban Enterprise Zones throughout New Jersey, and he fought for increased state aid for shore protection and beach replenishment.

Asselta also served on the Vineland Public Schools Board of Education (1993-1996), the Vineland Planning Board (1992-1993), and the Vineland Environmental Commission (1992-1993). He is a graduate of Cumberland County College and the Frederick Military Academy.

gruccioGruccio graduated with distinction from Rider University where he earned his MBA in Business Administration. He has been a realtor associate with A.R. Fanucci Real Estate since 2010, and is also the president of Vineland Landscaping, and co-founder of All Key Solutions.

A lifelong resident of Vineland, Gruccio is a member of the National Association of Realtors, Cumberland County Board of Realtors, Greater Vineland Chamber of Commerce, and Italian American Benevolent Association. He is a board member of the Vineland Urban Enterprise Zone, and Inspira Foundation, and previously served a 4-year term as a board member on Vineland’s Zoning Board of Adjustment.

Gruccio serves on the committee of “Art of Two Palettes” at Elwyn New Jersey, is an Associated Builders and Contractors NJ Young Professional board member, a member of the Builders League of South Jersey, Vineland Rotary member, and the chairman of the Cumberland County Young Republicans organization.
