Academics

You can join the fast paced, exciting world of journalism, television, or digital media productions by majoring in a Communications program that will prepare you to work in our multimedia-saturated society.

This program prepares students to transfer to four-year colleges and universities to major in fields such as communications, speech, journalism, broadcasting, television, radio, writing, teaching and law. The student newspaper and the college’s programming on local cable TV provide hands-on opportunities to develop skills and explore careers.

This program is designed for students who are planning to pursue a career in writing and/or editing for newspapers or magazines. It is a transfer program that provides the students with the foundation courses and liberal arts background necessary for continuing study in the field of journalism at a four-year college or university. The program also provides students with enough journalism and writing experience to freelance for local newspapers.

This program is designed for students who want to learn how to write scripts, direct television programs and edit videotapes for local and national broadcasting venues. Students graduating from this program are qualified for an entry level position in cable television and can work for special interest groups engaged in programming.
