Nursing is a wonderful health care profession. While learning to be a professional or a practical nurse, students will be required to provide direct client care, and maintain patient safety.

Nurses use the principles of critical thinking, decision making, and professionalism in the rendering of effective client care.  Nursing competence, the foundation of safe, effective nursing care, depends on the ability to assess objective and subjective clinical signs, use the assessment to plan optimal care, provide priority interventions based on the plan and evaluate the care rendered.

To be successful in the nursing programs, a student must be a dynamic individual who is able to build on previously learned knowledge and apply the knowledge to real situations. It is with dedication to your learning, and engagement in the learning process that you develop the knowledge, skills and behaviors required of nurses in today's exciting and challenging health care environment.

The faculty and staff take the highest pride in providing you with the tools and knowledge to grow from a nursing student to a colleague in the nursing profession.

We encourage you to explore our website to familiarize yourself with the nursing programs and options offered at Cumberland County College.  Please pay attention to admission procedures and dates.
