MRI Program

Employment of radiologic and MRI technologists is projected to grow 9 percent from 2014 to 2024, faster than the average for all occupations. As the population grows older, there will be an increase in medical conditions that require imaging as a tool for making diagnoses.* For more information please call 856-776-2372.

The MRI program is offered through the Workforce and Community Education Department at Cumberland County College and is available to radiologic technologists who want to enhance their careers in advanced imaging.  In order to be eligible for this program you must have graduated from an accredited radiography program and passed the ARRT Certification Examination.

The MRI didactic lectures are being taught by an experienced and respected educator, Anthony Festa B.S., R.T. (R) (MR). The curriculum consists of a 3-hour classroom lecture each week for a period of 24 weeks. Students will be required to complete a minimum of 16 hours per week in a clinical site. Clinical sites will be assigned on a first-come-first-serve basis: those handing in completed applications and all required documents will be given first choice of clinical assignment. The student will be provided the fundamentals needed to enter the field as an entry level MR technologist. Upon completion of all the academic and clinical requirements, CCC will award a certificate of completion and students will be eligible to sit for the MRI certification exam. This course is approved for ARRT CE credits.

Start dates are every January and July. Cost of the program is $2999, not including books or additional study material.

Applications must be turned in by December 1st for the January class and June 1st for the July class. In addition to the application, eligible applicants must provide: proof of current ARRT certification, proof of current immunizations, documentation of a recent 10-panel drug screen and must pass a background check (initiated by the college). A non-refundable application fee of $75 is required in addition to the course tuition.
