Course Description:
This class is for teens 13 to 17. There is no experience needed. The student will explore hand-building techniques including pinch, coil and slab. The pottery wheel will also be introduced. Students will experience the entire process of pottery from creating the pieces to glazing and firing. The students will be encouraged to express themselves and their personal ideas through the medium of clay.

Course description:
The student should have at least one (1) Intro. course. Learn how to decorate your ceramic art with instructor Cathy Cramer. Using her cake decorating expertise Cathy will demonstrate and teach the student how to “pipe” clay slip out of a pastry bag. Students will learn how to make flowers, leaves, and all types of embellishments using various cake decorating tips.

Course description:
No experience is needed for this class. The student will learn how to throw a pot on the potterywheel. Instructors will demonstrate the technique of “throwing” starting with making cylinders using the pottery wheel, and progressing on to other forms. Students will also learn about firing and glazing.

Course description:
Two intro classes are needed for this class. The student will further explore hand-building and throwing techniques, with the addition of glaze chemistry and other technical information useful for the student interested in starting their own studio or furthering a career in the ceramic art field

Course description:
This class is for the intermediate/advanced student who has completed introductory courses. David Bruce will be teaching this course which will explore mixed media and installation art. Even if you work on the pottery wheel, this class will challenge you to pursue a new approach to the concept of function.

Course description:
This class is for the intermediate to advanced student. The class addresses advanced topics and projects involving ceramic processes and techniques. Further exploration and development of the individual work of the student will be addressed.

Course description:
The non-instructional studios are for the student who has some experience (at least one of the introductory courses) and would like to work in the studio to develop their craft. The student would come on open studio hours that are convenient for them.
Pottery Workshop Classes
Have you always wanted to try pottery making but could not commit to a long- term class? Then the “Pottery Workshop” classes are for you. These classes will introduce you to pottery fundamentals, develop your appreciation for pottery making, and allow you to indulge your creative urge. These classes are also great for kids and/or teens. You will be able to take home your own creation. Feel free to bring a friend or relative to help!
