GRANT TEAM OFFERED EARLY SUMMER

If you’re looking for hands-on grant writing experience, join the Grant Team, but enroll now because the application deadline is April 23, 2010.
Prior to the first session, participants will receive a replica of an actual grant with a homework assignment. At the first session, participants will discuss their homework assignments, receive coaching and instruction, and then receive another homework assignment. At the second session, participants will once again review their homework assignments, receive coaching and instruction, and another homework assignment. By the end of the fourth session, participants will complete a grant in its entirety.
The Grant Team program is offered on a very limited enrollment basis. Participants must be committed to attending all four sessions and completing the homework assignments. There is a $25 non-refundable fee for the program.
The registration deadline for is April 23, 2010. Acceptance letters and the initial homework assignment will be mailed the week of May 3, 2010.
To apply, download a registration form. The $25 program fee must accompany the application. Checks should be made payable to the Cumberland County Improvement Authority. Online, faxed or verbal registrations will not be accepted.

Leadership Cumberland County assures a continuous source of strong leadership by establishing a leadership program for existing and emerging leaders who will assume responsible positions in neighborhoods and communities throughout Cumberland County. The program's objectives focus on establishing a network of leaders; providing a means to ramp-up new leaders as they enter the County; identifying emerging leaders; valuing diversity as a resource county-wide; and encouraging the development of pride in Cumberland County.

Community Resource Room Offers Assistance to NonprofitsNonprofit organizations often face a number of challenges. Creating professional-looking printed materials doesn’t have to be one of them.The Center for Leadership, Community and Neighborhood Development (CLCND) offers nonprofits free marketing software packets that include design templates for producing attractive letterheads and business cards, brochures, newsletters and other materials that organizations need to effectively convey their message to the public. This easy-to-use software can be obtained by visiting the Community Resource Room or contacting the CLCND through the this website.Found within the George P. Luciano Family Center for Public Service and Leadership, the Community Resource Room is dedicated to supporting the area’s neighborhood associations, faith-based organizations and nonprofits. Offering a variety of tools to assist volunteers in conducting business on behalf of their organizations, the Community Resource Room is equipped with four computer work stations, laser printers, a copier, fax machine, and a multi-purpose work area.The latest addition to the Community Resource Room is a resource library, full of books and videos focused on the various aspects of nonprofit management. The Foundation Center, a database with more than 90,000 funding possibilities, is also available. To borrow any of the resource material or to utilize the Foundation Center database, volunteers must obtain free pass cards, which are also available onsite.
