Grant Funded - Business Training

Cumberland County College offers both no-cost individual and group basic skills training classes.

NJBIA Basic Employability Skills Workforce Training Grant

There are two options for participating in one of these courses.
  • Group Training: Dedicated classes specifically for your organization, a minimum of 10 employees must attend and complete the required hours for each course. Classes can be delivered at your facility or at a Cumberland County College location. Times and dates are flexible and designed to suit your needs.
  • Individual Training: Individuals can attend open enrollment classes with other employers, scheduled at a Cumberland County College location.

The NJBIA Basic Skills Training has been made available through a partnership between the New Jersey Business & Industry Association (NJBIA), the New Jersey Community College Consortium for Workforce and Economic development, and the NJ Department of Labor and Workforce Development.

Requirements for Training: To attend this training, employees must be employed in the state of New Jersey. Public employees and those who are unemployed, are not eligible to participate. Classes are reserved on a first come, first serve basis and sell out quickly.

Training Program Include:
  • PC Skills- Windows, Outlook, Work, Excel, Access, PowerPoint
  • Communications—Verbal and Written
  • Customer Service
  • English as a Second Language (ESL)
  • Spanish for Managers and in the Workplace
  • Mathematics and Measurement
  • Team Building, Problem Solving and Time Management

Ready To Work (RTW) Grant

Many employers find it difficult to find the right job candidates for their jobs, especially if specialized, technical skills are required. If you are reading this, it’s likely you are one of those employers.

Ready to Work New Jersey is designed specifically to help companies like yours find, identify and train the best possible candidates for available positions.

On-the-job training of selected candidates is at the heart of this program. The program will reimburse your company for up to 90 percent of wages or salaries paid to a job candidate while in training.

Skills Partnership Grant

Skills Partnership training funds reimburse New Jersey employers up to 50 percent of the cost of training. Funds are used to train new or existing employees to meet the skill requirements for available high-skill, high-wage jobs in New Jersey. Cumberland County College will assist you in the application process and administrative details. Classes are conducted at your location or one of College’s locations.

Eligibility: Individual employer, labor union, community- or faith-based organization & consortium.
