Does CCC offer a Degree strictly taking Distance Learning courses?

While CCC does not offer an Associate Degree by strictly taking DL courses, many students take DL courses to work towards a Degree. Now through the University Partnership students can obtain their Bachelor's or Master's Degree without leaving Cumberland County.

How do I register for Online, Telecourse, or Hybrid courses?
Students can register the same way as a traditional (on-campus) course.

Are there extra fees for Distance Learning courses?
Yes, Distance Learning courses have an additional fee per course.

Can my financial aid or scholarship pay for these courses?
Yes, financial aid or scholarships can be used to pay for these courses.

Will the credits count the same way as a traditional (on-campus) course?
Yes, credits will count and appear in the student’s transcript the same way.

I registered for an Online course, what do I do next?

Online course - Frequently Asked Questions

What is Blackboard?

Blackboard is the Learning Management System that allows students to log in to a "virtual/online classroom". Round-the-clock access to Blackboard allows students to download class notes, submit assignments, take scheduled exams, read and contribute to class discussions, communicate with the instructor and other students, and receive faculty feedback, all at the student's convenience.

Can I take an Online course if am out of State and Country?
More than likely, Yes, as long as you have access to the Internet. We recommend checking with the local Internet Service Providers and Government for possible restrictions.

Is there a specific time I have to be online?
No, there are no daily requirements to be on at a certain time, however, some instructors do require students to be availabe for chat room sessions (where instructor and student communicate by typing messages back and forth). Accommodations are made for students that may have time conflicts for these sessions.

Can I use computers on campus for my Online courses?
Yes, students who do not have access to a computer off-campus or do not have a reliable computer are welcomed to use the campus computer labs.

Do I need books for my Online course?
More than likely, YES. Be sure to visit CCC's Online Bookstore or call 856-691-8600 ext. 318 for more information on book requirements. Also, be aware that some courses may require you to obtain video tapes and other multi-media resources. Please log in to Blackboard as soon as the semester begins and read as much information posted as possible.

Hybrid course - Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Hybrid course?

Hybrid courses are listed with course section numbers 70 to 74. These courses are combination of Online and traditional (on-campus) course. Part of the time students are required to be on-campus and the other part will be off-campus utilizing Blackboard to participate in class activities. The number of class meetings will vary with each course.

Do Hybrid courses use Blackboard?
Yes, Hybrid courses will use Blackboard.


Tele course - Frequently Asked Questions

When does my Telecourse start?

Each telecourse has a designated start date which can be found in the course catalog or student's schedule. Usually the start date begins before the first of Five meetings. Shows may be broadcasted prior to the first meeting - see TV Broadcast Schedules.

Do I have to attend the FIVE meetings?
Yes, students are required to attend all Five meetings (meeting dates should be listed in student's IRIS course schedule). The meetings gives the students a chance to meet with the instructor and ask questions on how the class will be conducted.

What channel are the Telecourses broadcasted?
Tele course programs will air every week on Channel 9 through the local cable company.

I don't have cable, do I have other options?
Yes, students may watch the videos at the College Library or borrow them to watch at home.

When and Where do I submit assignments or take exams?
By attending the first of Five meetings students will be informed about policies and procedures on how the class will be conducted.
