Biography

Dr. Cortney Bolden comes to Cumberland County College with over 15 years of experience developing mechatronic and autonomous systems, and providing innovative research in the area of intelligent control of unmanned systems.  She has worked as a senior research scientist for one of the largest defense contractors developing state-of-the-art technology for manned and unmanned aerial and mobile platforms.  Dr. Bolden is also the co-founder and chief scientist of MIA Solutions, LLC located in Camden, NJ.

Not only is Dr. Bolden a well sought after engineer and scientist, but she provides a plethora of experience in accredited curriculum-based instruction.  She is known for her ability to convey extremely complicated mathematical and scientific concepts in the most simplistic manner to students.  She is committed to project-based, real-world instruction with learning outcomes cohesively aligned with both industry and technology advancement.  Her goal is to prepare students to excel in the workforce and academia.  Dr. Bolden is very passionate about serving the underserved and committed to providing relevant technology-centered learning experiences to drive student learning. 

Dr. Bolden is a native of New Orleans, LA.  She received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Southern University and A&M College.  She also obtained Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina A&T State University.
