M.S. Shenandoah University

Associate Professor Donald Forcinito of the college’s Arts & Humanities Division has been teaching at Cumberland since 1999. He serves as the ESL (English as a Second Language) Coordinator, and he teaches English Composition courses. He assists students from around the world, helping to guide them along their journey toward their academic goals. He recognizes the importance of cultural diversity on the college campus and the richness of this diversity in the greater Cumberland County community.

After graduating from Cumberland County College with an Associate’s Degree, Professor Forcinito attended Rutgers University and earned a Bachelor's Degree in English/Education with a certification in ESL. At both Cumberland and Rutgers, he received the Excellence in Writing Awards for the English Departments. He then earned a Master of Science in Education - TESOL Degree (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia. He graduated with Honors from all three institutions.

Some of Professor Forcinito’s proudest accomplishments include securing grant funding for the ESL/Foreign Language Resource Center, designing and updating the curriculum for the ESL Program, and most of all, maintaining a viable pathway to a college education for second-language learners. He is a determined advocate for ESL students, completing registrations, planning schedules, counseling and advising, and lending support as needed.

A lifelong resident of Cumberland County, he lives with his beautiful family, all of whom are his inspiration.
