Student Reminders
Transfer Day will be held Wednesday, February 15th. Students anticipating spring or summer graduation may participate in on-site admission interviews with participating Colleges. Colleges participating include: Fairleigh Dickinson, Stockton, Rowan, Rutgers Camden, Widener and Wilmington. Transfer Day participants must complete an application with a CCC transcript by February 8th. Once submitted, an appointment for the 15th will be scheduled. Student nominations for Who’s Who are currently being accepted. Information and nomination forms may be obtained in the Campus Services Office located in the Luciano Conference Center. Who’s Who recognizes second year community college students who have excelled in extra and co-curricular activities. Student nominations must be submitted by Friday, February 24th. For additional information call extension 211.
NJ Transit offers discounts for full time students. Students can receive a 25% discount on a NJ Transit monthly pass. This transit pass is good for both bus and rail services. To utilize, full time students must register with NJ Transit. To register, go the College’s homepage and click on NJ Transit under the quick links. Click continue when certificate warning appears. Enter your student ID and your last name, choose enroll and set up your account. A credit or debit card is necessary for payment.
Black Light Casino Night will be presented by Student Life on Wednesday Feb. 15th. All students are invited to try their luck on slot machines, black jack, roulette, and other table games. The Casino will be in the gym from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm and play money and music will be provided.
Out of stock textbooks can be ordered at the College Bookstore. Students must fill out an order form for textbooks out of stock. Out of stock textbooks are not automatically reordered and restocked. Students needing a textbook not on the shelf should speak with one of the Bookstore staff for order completion and payment. Ordered textbooks can easily be obtained in 2-3 days after order has been submitted.
Students are encouraged to update their emergency notification information in IRIS. Student should be sure the correct phone number, cell/text number, and email address is listed to receive campus wide alert notifications. This alert system is used for college closures, schedule changes (snow/weather) and any emergency situation on campus such as an evacuation or lock down. Students can contact the Help Desk at ext. 411 if assistance is needed with IRIS update.
Nominations for the Student Senate are available. Students interested in being involved in campus governance and representing the student body should contact the Student Life Office in the Student Center or ext. 454. Nominations and membership are accepted throughout the academic year.
Financial Aid Office is offering workshops to assist students with financial aid information and application. Students seeking financial assistance for the next academic year (2012-13) are encouraged to attend. A schedule of these FAFSA Workshops is available on the college’s homepage. Click on “Apply Early, Financial Aid Workshop” for dates, times and sign up.
Lockers are available for student use. Students interested in having a locker for the semester to secure books, backpacks, and other belongings may rent a locker located in the Student Center or FPAC. Students rentals are $25 and can be processed in the Student Life Office located in the Student Center ext. 454).
The final men’s and women’s home basketball games are a doubleheader on Saturday, February 11th with Sussex CC. Women play at 1pm followed by the men at 3pm. All home games are played in the College gymnasium in the Student Center. Student ID’s are required for admission.
