VALE Reciprocal Borrowing Agreement

The VALE Faculty Reciprocal Borrowing Agreement, effective January 2, 2002, is a cooperative onsite borrowing agreement among thirty-five participating VALE member colleges and universities. Under the agreement, faculty and staff from participating institutions who are in good standing at their home library qualify for onsite borrowing privileges at each other’s libraries.  For a listing of the participating libraries, please go to the VALE website

To register for a card, the applicant must bring the following to the CCC Library:

A completed and signed "VALE Faculty Reciprocal Borrowing Application Form", a current valid photo I.D. card from the borrower's university or college, proof of home address, home & work telephone numbers and email address

CCC Library will issue a CLUES Card.  The CLUES card is only valid in the CCC Library.  The other CLUES Libraries are not included in the VALE Reciprocal Borrowing Agreement.  The card is valid for the current academic year, with an expiration date of June 30.  The card must be renewed following each June 30th.

The VALE patron may borrow up to 5 books.  Items must be returned directly to the CCC Library.

The VALE patron is responsible for:

  • all books checked out on your card return of borrowed material on time
  • return of borrowed material on time
  • any fines and fees charged to your account
  • payment for lost or damaged materials
  • notifying the Library of any change of address (home or electronic)

  • VALE patrons are not eligible to request Interlibrary Loans.

    [Note:  Borrowing materials is a privilege that may be revoked by Library staff whenever deemed necessary.]
