Cumberland’s Bridge to Rowan (CB2R) program

Cumberland’s Bridge to Rowan (CB2R) program is a partnership between the Biology Departments at Cumberland County College and Rowan University. Funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the goal of the CB2R program is to increase the baccalaureate completion of underrepresented, low-income Biomedical Science students who start at the community college level and are well prepared for biomedical research careers or graduate programs.

  • Rowan University Academic Advising
  • Research Workshops and Seminar Series:
  • Peer Mentoring Network
  • Rowan Bio3: Transfer and Bio4: Ecology classes on CCC campus
Programing provided to CB2R Scholars:
  • Paid Research Experience at CCC and Rowan: CB2R Scholars will participate in a summer research clinic at Cumberland County College that will continues through their sophomore year. After graduating from CCC, CBR2 Scholars will be fully integrated into the research laboratory of Rowan faculty and will experience a complete spectrum of activities associated with carrying out hypothesis-driven research.
  • Opportunity to attend and present at Rowan STEM Symposium.
  • Opportunity to attend and present at national student research conference. 

Eligibility:

Applicants must be United States citizens or permanent residents and be from an underrepresented group in biomedical and behavioral sciences: racial/ethnic minorities (Black or African American, Hispanics or Latinos, American Indian or Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiian and other Pacific Islanders), individuals with disabilities (physical or mental) or individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds or low income.
