Ellen Reece is a Cumberland County native and a Bridgeton High School alumna. She earned her B.A. in Liberal Arts from Temple University where she was an Asian Studies Major (Japan Focus), a History Minor, and received certifications in Asian Business, Asian American History, and Japanese Language. While at Temple, Ellen spent a year in Tokyo studying and assisting both ESL and native English speakers in Temple University Japan’s Learning Center.

Upon graduating from Temple, Ellen worked for a Japanese firm in Southern California, but after a few years she decided to return to school to pursue her goal of becoming an academic librarian and archivist. Ellen graduated with distinction from the Pratt Institute’s School of Library and Information Science (now the School of Information) where she earned a Masters in Library and Information Science with an Advanced Certificate in Archives. Ellen performed her Archival Studies Practicum at Columbia University’s Rare Book and Manuscript Library where she processed, organized, and wrote finding aids for a number of collections including the Maurice Valency Papers and The National Story Project Records.

Ellen began as a Librarian at CCC in 2013 and is continually impressed by the CCC faculty and staff’s commitment to student success. She is proud to be part of a team of dedicated people who are invested in providing students with opportunities for educational, professional, and personal growth as well as improving the community that they serve.
