All CCC students have a NetMail account. NetMail is a web-based email system accessible from any PC on the internet. It works the same way both on and off campus.

How do I login?

Email Login
 
User name: is the first letter of your first name, the first letter of your last name, followed by the last four digits of your student ID number.
Password
: is your date of birth in this format, mmddyyyy.
 
Example:
Name: John Lee Brown ID: 456789 DOB: 2/18/1972 User Name: jb6789 Password: 02181972 
NOTE: When using computers on campus, make sure the 'Remember my password' option is NOT checked!

What can I do with NetMail?
Using this basic email program, you can send and receive email, send and receive email with attachments, save and sort your mail, and receive important information from the college and your instructors

What will my email address be?
Your NetMail email address will be your username@student.cccnj.edu: Example: jb6789@student.cccnj.edu

How do I open and view my emails?
NOTE: If you have a pop-up blocker on your computer, you may need to disable it or add the NetMail system as an allowed site.

To open a message, click once on the INBOX folder icon .
To read a message, click on the email subject link that will be underlined. The link will have an envelope icon beside it.

To save the message after reading, choose the Close icon

Sometimes when you receive a message, there will be an attachment included. If there is an attachment, there will be an icon of a paperclip next to the subject.
Open the message by clicking on the email subject link that will be underlined.
Under the Subject line, there will be an icon of a paperclip. To view the attachment, click on the 'Save As' link beside the paperclip and attachment title link.
Next a dialog box will appear. There are three options: Open, Save, or Cancel.
If you select 'Open' and have that application installed on your computer, the file will be opened. For example, if the attachment is a Word document and Word is installed on your computer, the attachment will be opened in Word.
If you choose 'Save', you need to specify the location in which you want to save the file.
Once you have saved the file, another dialog box will appear indicating that the download is complete. You can choose to Open, Open Folder, or Close. You can open the file, open the folder where the file is saved, or you can just close and view the attachment at a later time.

How do I reply to an email?
When you open a message and need to send a reply to that message, you have the option to Reply to Sender

or Reply All
Email All. 
Reply to Sender only responds to the person who sent you the message. Reply All will send your response to all the recipients of the message. When your mouse moves across these icons, their written descriptions are displayed. 
Open the message and then click to either 'Reply to Sender' or 'Reply to All'. 
The To section and the Subject fields will be filled based on whether you have chosen to either 'Reply to Sender' or 'Reply All'. You can change the information in the 'To' and 'Subject' lines if needed. 
Type your reply in the Message portion of the window and then click once on the 'Send' button.

How do I know which emails are new and which I have already read?
The closed envelope icon notes a new or unread email.

A number next to your personal folders , indicates how many unread messages are in that folder.

How do I compose an email?
Click the 'Compose' icon on the left side of the mailbox screen.

Type in the recipient(s) email addresses in the 'To', 'CC', or 'BC' boxes. 
To is the primary recipient(s) of the email. 
CC sends a carbon copy of the email to someone who should be informed about the content, but is not expected to respond.
BC sends a carbon copy of the email without the other recipients knowing. 
Type a Subject and a Message in the correct fields, then click the 'Send' button on the upper right portion of compose window.

Can I send attachments?
To attach a file or image to your message, before you click 'Send':
click 'Attach' click 'Browse...' select the file you wish to attach click 'Open'.
The file name appears in the text box. Click 'Add', and repeat if you have more than one file. When done adding files, click 'Ok'. You will be taken back to the compose window, and your attachments will be listed underneath the header, with a paperclip icon next to each attachment. Click 'Send' when your message is complete.

Why don't I see my sent mail?
Copies of sent mails aren't automatically saved by NetMail. You can however create a 'Sent Mail' folder to store copies of sent messages. First create your new folder:
Creating Personal Folders
Click on the 'Add Folder' icon on your screen, 
Email Add Folder 
and type in the name of your new folder. The folder is now ready to use. 
Next, click the 'Options' button at the top of the mail screen

Select the 'Mailbox Management' tab 
Email Forward 
Under 'Sent Folder' select the name of your new 'Sent Mail' folder as the location to save sent mail. Then, click 'Save'.

How would I forward my NetMail email to my Yahoo/Hotmail/Outlook etc. account? 
Click the 'Options' button from the mailbox main window, then select the 'Mailbox Management' tab. 
Select the 'Yes' radio button under 'Forward All New Messages'. 
Click 'Save' when complete.

How do I sort my incoming emails to go directly to my personal folders?
Create Rules for Handling Incoming Emails 
Click the 'Options' button from the mailbox main window, then select the 'Rules' tab. 
Email Filter 
Click 'Create New Rule' , then fill in the conditions to tell the server where you want messages that meet those conditions to be placed. Filter by subject, sender, domain etc.

Once you have completed creating your filter, be sure to hit 'Save'. You can edit/delete filters at any time, by returning to the 'Options - Rules' screen and clicking on the rule you want to edit or delete.

How do I add friends to my address book?

Click 'Create' and the New contact dialog box appears. 
Enter the name and email address of the individual then click 'Save'. The new contact will then be listed in your address book.

How do I add appointments to my calendar?
There are two basis ways to add appointments to your calnedar. One way would be for your instructor or advisor to email an appointment request to your inbox. If you accept the appointment, the date and time are added to your calendar automatically. The most common way to add appointments would be to type them in yourself. 
Click on the 'Calendar' icon on the left of your mailbox screen. 
Email ScheduleThe calendar screen then opens. Any appointments, notes or tasks scheduled are listed here. 
Email Calendar 
To add and appointment, select the day, and the schedule for that day appears on the right. 
Click on the event you wish to add: 'Appointment', 'Task', or 'Note' and the 'Appointment' window opens. 
Email Create 
Enter the 'Subject' or purpose of the meeting, or task as you want it viewed on the Calendar. Enter the 'Place' (for appointments). The date is is default to today unless you select another date on the calendar. Enter the time of the appointment or due date for task. Select the proper duration or approximate length of meeting. Then select 'Post'. Your appointment now appears on your calendar. 
To add other days, such as a recurring meeting, simply click the 'set date' icon, next to the start date in the appointment window, click on 'Select Recurring' and select the additional days on the monthly calendar view. Select 'OK' when you are finished.

Remember to always logout by clicking on the Exit link!
